General Meeting of the Community Civic Association
This coming April 1st will be the first General Meeting of
the Community Civic Association under the newly elected officers and Board
Members. Your voice is very important in the affairs of the community. Please
come and join your neighbors and let's see what we can do.
A Letter from the President
Dear residents of Brookshire, Stirling Forest, Oaks of
Archdale, Baker's Landing Archdale Landing, and Archdale: It is with great pleasure that I write to
you as the newly elected president of the Archdale Community Civic
Association. As the new board members
and I officiate at our next general meeting on April 1st, we hope that you will
be able to attend and offer your support. I realize that after a hard days work it is difficult to even think
about going out again in the evening. However, for the sake of our community, we need as much input as you can
offer. We need to know of your concerns, your questions and suggested solutions
as problems arise. This is YOUR community and your thoughts count! We, as a group, can have the most beautiful
and sought after sub-divisions in the Tri-County area. There are a few questions we .all need to
address as a community. At our first
general meeting we will be addressing this Community Newsletter. It is your newsletter, written by you, for
the purpose of connecting with our neighbors. It offers free birth announcements, honor roll mention, school
activities, etc. Gardening tips and favorite receipts are also things we would
like you to submit and share with your neighbors. Basically, anything you feel will be of interest to our community
. We are in the process of soliciting
local business to advertise on the back page, to offset our cost of publication
and distribution. For a small fee
of$3.00, you may advertise your upcoming "Yard Sale" or "Help
Wanted" or "Baby Sitters" or simply individual items for
sale. After this first Community
Newsletter, we plan to have direct mailing, hopefully via bulk mail. These will
probably be address to "resident" as we do not have an updated list
of resident's names. Though informal,
it is meant for you. Also at our April
meeting we will be addressing a petition to be signed by homeowners, for
complete re-paving (not patching) of all the roads in Archdale. We plan to have a table set up (date and
place to be announced) for all home owners to sign the petition. To have the Dorchester County Transportation
Committee to approve the paving project, it is necessary to get the petition
signed by 97% of homeowners! April's
meeting will also consist of update of the Crime Watch Committee. Block
Captains - What are they? What are their responsibilities? >We will discuss the lawn maintenance company
and what you expect from them regarding common areas and the boulevard
maintenance. We will discuss the
restrictions of various covenants addressing issues of parking boats, trailers,
RVs, and so on in driveways and yards.
As you can see, there will be plenty on the Agenda. Your input is vital and we promise not to
keep you up late!
Just to give you some insight on who I am: My wife Julie, three sons and I moved here from Miami, Florida last May. Two of our sons are adopted and the third is our foster son and is in the final stages of also being adopted by us. I am the president of Charleston's Foster Parent Association. I have a janitorial company, "Corporate Cleaning Services, Inc." and have been in business since 1987. I am a member of, as well as Ambassador for the Charleston Metro Chamber of Commerce. My family has been very involved in various charity drives and organizations and are preparing the start of a chapter of M.A.D.D. (Mothers Against Drunk Drivers). The first meeting with Chief Greenberg will be April 22nd at 7: 00 PM and you may call me directly for information at 207- 7911. Well, I have written a lengthy letter, but only for this first time, to give you insight of what we have planned ....
THIS IS YOUR NEWSLETTER .... You will fill the pages. Thank you for your vote of confidence. I will do the very best I can.
Very Truly,
Steve Hurley
